Premonitions: A leap in to the future – Herbert Greenhouse [1971]
Many royal figures thought that the doctrine of divine right of kings conferred a kind of immunity upon them, and they ignored prophetic warnings. An Italian seer, Giuliano del Carmine, informed Alessandro de Medici, first Duke of Florence, that his throat would be cut by his own cousin, Lorenzaccio.
The Duke, with a touching faith in the ties of blood, roared with laughter and told the prophet he was being ridiculous. But that night a soldier in the Duke's bodyguard also dreamed that de Medici's cousin would murder him.
While he was telling the Duke about his dream the next morning, Lorenzaccio came by, and the soldier exclaimed, "That's the man!" De Medici rebuked the soldier, but later that day he was stabbed to death by his cousin.
