Fluttering [Adapted from a poem by Heinrich Heine]
You said to me, how can it help you
Still these silly poems to fashion
Will you sit forever composing
All this evidence of your passion?
I said, well it’s like a chicken hatching
From the shell of my mind they’re born
And they chirp about and flutter
From the evening to the dawn
And unless they’re there on paper
Unless I give them light and air
They flutter in my heart forever
And you never know they’re there
