One of my friends, who lives in Kensington, had been sick for a long time. One Sunday evening last summer, another of my friends and his wife went to visit him by carriage. When they arrived near a point not far from the patient's house, the horse, which had started to trot, no longer wanted to move on. It seemed to be struck by a sudden terror. It shuddered, backed up, reared up, scaring the people in the carriage a lot.
At one moment, the lady got up to find out what was happening, and her amazement was great when she saw the sick friend they were going to visit standing in front of the horse with his arms outstretched! Her horror was such that she fell unconscious on the cushions of the carriage. Then the husband had to order the driver to go home.
Later, they decided to get back on the road. When they arrived at the friend's house, they noticed that the window blinds were closed. They were soon told that the patient had just died, just as he had appeared in front of the horse.
It should be remembered that the horse was the first to see the apparition, a circumstance that supports the affirmation of a large number of people, that animals share with humans the faculties of clairvoyance.
