Professor Ernesto Bozzano - The parapsychological manifestations of animals - 130 cases proving animal mediumistic abilities
Case 55. - (Visual, with an anteriority of the animal over human.) - I find it in the Phantasms of the Living (vol. II, p. 197). The name of the lady who recounts this fact is not given, but it is known to the members of the Executive Board of the Society for P.R. - Miss K... writes:
It was a winter evening in the year 18..., I was in my room, sitting by the fire, completely absorbed in caressing my favorite little pussy. She was nestled on my lap, in an almost dreamy posture, her eyes half closed, as if asleep. Although there was no light in the room, the reflections of the fire perfectly illuminated all the objects.
The room where we were located had two doors, one of which led to a temporarily closed apartment. The other, placed opposite to the first, opened onto the corridor.
My mother had left me a few minutes before and the comfortable and antique armchair, with a very high backrest, which she occupied, remained empty at the other corner of the fireplace.
My little pussy, her head resting on my arm, seemed more and more sleepy and I was thinking about going to bed. Suddenly, I realized that something unexpected had disturbed my pet's tranquility. She had just suddenly stopped purring and was showing clear signs of growing concern. I had bent over her trying to calm her with my caresses, when all of a sudden she got up on all fours and began to breathe heavily, making her back big and her tail thick, in a posture of distress and terror.
This way of behaving made me look up and I saw with fear a small, ugly, wrinkled, old shrew figure in my mother's chair. She held her hands on her knees and tilted her body so that she could carry her head with mine. The penetrating, shiny, bad eyes stared at me, motionless. It seemed to me that it was the devil who was looking at me through his eyes. Her clothes and her whole appearance seemed like those of a woman of the French bourgeoisie, but I didn't care about that, because her eyes with such strangely dilated sloes and such a nasty expression absorbed all the strength of my lungs, but these evil eyes fascinated me and cut off my breath. I couldn't look away from it, let alone get up.
In the meantime, I tried to keep the pussy with me, but she didn't seem to want to stay in this horrible neighborhood. After some desperate efforts, she managed to free herself, and by jumping on the chairs, tables, everything she could find in front of her, she rushed over and over again with extreme violence against the upper frames of the door that was facing the closed apartment. Then, turning towards the other door, she began to rush against it again with a redoubled rage.
My terror had thus increased: sometimes I looked at this shrew whose evil eyes continued to fixate on me, sometimes I followed my pussy, which was becoming more and more frenetic. In the end, the dreadful idea that the animal might have become enraged had the effect of giving me my breath back and I began to scream with all my might.
Mother ran in a hurry. As soon as she opened the door, the pussy literally jumped on her head, and for a good half an hour, she kept running, from top to bottom of the stairs, as if someone was chasing her. I turned to show my mother the cause of my horror. Everything had disappeared.
In such circumstances, it is very difficult to assess the length of time; however, I estimate that the appearance persisted for four to five minutes.
It was then learned that this house once belonged to a woman who hung herself in this very room.

General K., the recipient's brother, confirms the above account. For further information on this subject, I refer to the Journal of the S.P.R., vol. III, pp. 268-271.
It may be added that in this case as well, the recipient was unaware of the drama that had taken place in this room, so that, even if the cat had not been the first recipient, Ms. K. could not have self-suggested in the sense of causing a hallucination of the ghost in herself.
