Case No. 47 - Emma Powell

Mrs. Powell’s narrative, like that of her OOBE case, incorporated into Chapter 2, was given to me on tape:

When I was seventeen I had had a bad sore throat and I was recovering and was sitting up in bed. My mother and father were in the room with me. I heard a quartet singing, "Nearer My God to Thee" and I could hear all the parts -soprano, alto, tenor, and bass - it was very beautiful.

I asked them if they could hear it and they said ”No" and that I was imagining it. And then this same quartet sang "Church in the- Wilderness" and it was beautiful. But they couldn’t hear that either. Then I heard a man start to speak and they couldn't hear that either. It was very plain to me that it was a funeral speech. So I just got out of bed and that was all of it.

But then we heard on Monday that my very dear cousin had passed on.
