A description of the experience

Jenny Randles – Supernatural Pennines

……….at the Cow and Calf Rocks on Ilkley Moor, local writer Nicholas Size ….. experienced visions of the area as it must have looked when fairy carvings were first etched into the rock face.

He travelled back, perhaps in mind or vision, to the days when this bridge between worlds was part of everyday life.

Size reported that he was paralysed during the encounter and also in a trance-like state where time was suspended……..  . Not only did Size witness a ritual sacrifice as bearded men in animal skins showed their reverence for the moor but he saw the Cow and Calf as one single massive structure, not two as now.

Geologists suggest that thousands of years ago it may well have had this form and that the connecting rock face may have been broken up across the centuries to construct the base of early roads in the area.
