Cassidy, Joe - healing back pain

Type of Spiritual Experience

A description of the experience

Joe Cassidy

Book: The Diviner

Jean had a bad back around that time. She was taking painkillers for it and she tried using heat pads to stop the pain, but she was still uncomfortable. She was wriggling on the sofa one night, trying to ease it, when I asked her if she would like me to give her back a rub.

She pulled up her jersey and showed me where her back hurt. But then, something strange happened. I found myself first putting my left hand on her forehead. I expected her to stop me, but she shut her eyes and relaxed. Next I put my hand on her chest, and then to the area where her back had hurt. Jean was smiling.

'That's amazing, Joe,' she said.

‘What do you feel?'

'I feel heat. But most of all just relief. Relief from the pain. How did you do that?'

'I think it's energy,' I said. 'I think it’s energy from the universe, and I'm a conduit for it.'

'It's strange.' She was still smiling. 'It doesn't feel like you touching me. This touch is different.'
