Background

A description of the experience
The Artistic Alchemy of Joseph Beuys – Dr David Adams
Nearly all of Beuys's seventy-some Actions were followed by group conversations on their meanings, and it became one of Beuys's goals to approach such conversations as steps toward building the social organism itself as a work of art.
As Beuys sometimes explained, an Action was just "a sculpture dissected out into its essential elements”.
