Inside the Black Room – Dr Jack Vernon
Isolation in Sensory deprivation reawakened one war experience for one person in an interesting fashion. Early in World War II he had been on the beach at Dunkirk.
….While awaiting rescue, he, along with many others, was pinned down by heavy shelling. During that time he had an extremely vivid vision of his father, who said to him,
"Don't worry, you will live to be an old gray-headed man."
Memory of that vision was forcefully brought back to him on the day he was released from S.D. While in S.D. his beard had grown, and for the first time it had gotten long enough for him to discover that he had a gray beard. His hair had not turned gray, but his beard had.
