Observations placeholder

This was a dream.  I am somewhere warm and tropical.  There is a lagoon with an island on my right and the mainland on my left.  I am wading with someone unknown through this channel between the island and the mainland.  The channel may be about a quarter of a mile wide, no more.  On each side are trees, a thick tropical forest in a very dark shade of green, very beautiful, but totally impenetrable.  No flowers.  So thick no light even comes through the top branches.  There is no sign of life and certainly no sound.  Not at all frightening just impenetrable.

The channel itself is shallow.  The bottom is entirely sand, a pure almost white fine sand, pure, beautiful and sparkling.  The water is absolutely crystal clear, like glass.  As we wade along, it deepens in colour to a sort of turquoise blue towards the exit between the  mainland and channel to out left.  I can just see the sea beyond the channel, calm and the same turquoise colour.  The sky too is totally clear and blue, a beautiful emerald green cerulean sort of blue.  It is sunny and warm and truly peaceful.

Then from nowhere a vast sea snake comes swimming leisurely towards us from the channel entrance.  It is as thick as my body and seems to be of enormous length, I never get to see its tail.  Its head is serpent rather than snake like, no forked tongue, just a serpent like head and strange eyes. It rears up in front of us about 20 foot high, as if to frighten us, warn us off or maybe just to intimidate us.  But oddly enough, I don't feel intimidated.  Maybe it is the comfort of my fellow traveller, who I never really see, but I just watch, a spectator to a strange event.  It gradually drops down back into the sea.

Then I wake up.
