Once the core experience is imprinted, it serves as a memory matrix, and later similar experiences are recorded in close connection with the original event. This repeated apposition of additional layers can finally result in the specific dynamic memory constellation that I refer to as COEX –condensed experience – systems.
The formation of the peripheral layers can evidently involve two different dynamic mechanisms. Sometimes the addition of new memories occurs in a rather mechanical way. Life can bring forth important emotional experiences that, in one way or another, resemble the core experience. Because of the analytic and synthetic work of the memory, these experiences are included into COEX systems on the basis of identical components or general similarity.
