Background

Jenny Randles is one of the masters in the area of carefully, scientifically  and systematically documenting strange and spiritually interesting experiences

A description of the experience

Witness Jim Bolton reports what he saw at Ravenscliffe near Bradford on several occasions.

One morning in 1983 at about 5.30 a.m. he observed a 'shimmering energy' rising from a field near his house. This was not like a heat haze - it was an actual energy emission coming up from the ground.

'It rose about 30 feet into the air [and was] quite transparent. It appeared to wobble or spiral until it reached the top where it spun and sprayed into the air, dispersing or disappearing . . . It was visible for a minute or two.'

He also saw similar effects rising from the ground at nearby Shipley and Idle Hill. Both have been scenes of various strange phenomena, ranging from the sighting of demons to bedroom apparitions. Research by Paul Bennett, who investigated the leys in this area, found that not only did several lines cross at these sites but a standing stone had been placed at the active spot thousands of years since, indicating that there was something special about this place long ago.

Paul Bennett also noted that local dowsers (using rods to magnify the body's sensitivity to these changes in the local EM field) had reported sensing unusual energies here in the form of several rising spiral paths - which seems to be the effect that Jim Bolton had visually observed. Bennett believes that the neurons in Jim's brain were extremely sensitive to this energy leaking from the earth.
