Background

A description of the experience

Adenosine is marketed in the USA as Adenocard. It is used in hospitals as treatment for severe tachycardia (rapid heart beat), and acting directly to slow the heart through action on all four adenosine receptors in heart tissue, as well as producing a sedative effect through action on A1 and A2A receptors in the brain.

It does have side effects. Many individuals experience facial flushing, a temporary rash on the chest, lightheadedness, diaphoresis, or nausea after administration of adenosine due to its vasodilatory effects. Metallic taste is a hallmark side effect of adenosine administration.

It is classically associated with a sense of "impending doom", more prosaically described as apprehension. This lasts a few seconds after administration of a bolus dose. In some cases adenosine can make patients' limbs feel numb for about 2–5 minutes after administration intravenously depending on the dosage (usually above 12 mg)

Towards the end of 2013 this drug had caused 12 cardiac arrests

On Sep, 19, 2015: 972 people reported to have side effects when taking Adenosine. Among them, 2 people (0.21%) have Hallucination.
