My father always used to joke with me that we were descended from horse thiefs.  But I have read the Edda now and found that Horse-thief was one of the Hrimnir's children – a frost giant.  At one time their were three races on earth – the Aesir, humans and the frost giants, so perhaps I'm a frost giant a long way removed.....
