Once something is known of yourself [know yourself] and some empathy is felt for other animals birds, plants and the world created, then the forest will start to take on a much more pleasing appearance, it becomes a wood and will have symbolic clearings.

........ then gradually.... a she felt herself safe from the executioner, the forest lightened, the dim forms seemed neutral and then maybe even friendly, the trees lost their grotesquely gnarled appearance and at last she reached a pleasant glade where the sun shone down upon the grass and decided to rest for a while under a shady tree.............
