For there to be illnesses and diseases, there have to be functions that relate to them.
There are numerous examples of systems for illness, in other words Intelligences that are responsible for, or the originators as it were of, the functions of illness and disease; the Book of Enoch, for example, gave a group of systems the name 'Kasdeja' which covered still birth, miscarriage, poisoning/snake bite, and sunstroke. Whether functionally they are related I have no idea

12 And the fifth was named Kasdeja this is he who showed the children of men all the wicked smitings of spirits and demons and the smitings of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away; and the bites of the serpent; and the smitings which befall through the noontide heat
