Remember me when I am gone away
Gone far away into a foreign land
When you can no more hold me by the hand
Nor I half turn to go, yet turn and stay
Remember me when no more during the day
You kiss my lips and hold me close and hold my hand
Only remember me. You understand
It will be too late to hold me then that way
And if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, don’t be sad
For if only a little of the love that I still have, will have and had
For you remains, better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad
