Belleville Rendezvous
Where to go, where to go, where to go when?
Paris in August, it’s all closed down then
No point going to shops because they are all shut
And tourists flood well known sights - all thrust and cut
So we headed for Belleville they said in the guide
It was ‘boho’ and ‘ethnic’ and ‘lively besides’
They were right! Races all except those which were gaul
We might not be in Paris, in Paris at all
What a weird place was Belleville, no shops were shut here
There were mosques and hammans and imported beers
There were export shops, import shops, shops selling discs
And shops selling food if we’d taken the risk!
Well… we’ve now been to Belleville, no need to go back
But how odd that two streets away Paris came back
You can walk for 5 minutes and cross countries it seems
In Paris, in Paris where each has his dreams
