Background

A description of the experience

Ernesto Bozzano - Psychic phenomena at the moment of death [110 cases suggesting survival after death]

First category - Cases in which the apparitions of the deceased are perceived solely by the dying person, and relate to persons whose death he knew.

23-rd case. This case was collected by F.W. Myers. While being substantially different from the others, he presents this as a forewarning of death, made by means of the appearance of a deceased person.

... M. Lloyd Ellis already had symptoms of chest disease at the time of his father's death, but not to the point of predicting that a fatal outcome was near. However, his health began to decline rapidly towards the end of the year, and by the month of January, 1870, he was already at an extremity.

One night, after being in an apparent half-sleep state for some time (it was a Monday, as I recall), he woke up and suddenly asked his mother:

"Where did you go, father?"

She replied crying: "My child, you know that father is gone, he's been dead for over a year." –

"Really!" he murmured then; "But he was here just now, and he will come to see me at three o'clock next Wednesday."

At 3 o'clock in the morning, on the following Wednesday, poor Lloyd Ellis breathed his last.
