Korean shamanism has a long history with roots in the agricultural state of ancient time. Korean shamanism involves praying for a blessing by worshiping representative natural resources of the region, which may include mountains, soil, monumental trees or water. Korean shamanism perceives that the representative natural objects are under the influence of a supreme power or god. Even today, people in some rural regions worship the old zelkova trees as the guardian of their village.
