Background

A description of the experience

This little Japanese figurine is of a shaman who has opened his ‘third eye’ with kundalini energy – shown as the snake.  Superficially of course it looks like a little mythical creature half man and half something swallowing a worm under a leaf.  But the leaf is a lotus leaf, symbol of the crown chakra and the half man half animal is a frequent state that shamans experience via spiritual experience – they become their power animal.

The third eye is recognised in Taoism, Hinduism, Confucianism and Gnostic Christianity amongst many other religions.  It is a very key acupuncture and acupressure point in both Japanese and Chinese systems of medicine martial arts and spirituality.
