Background

A description of the experience

David Scott Rogo - Leaving the Body: A Complete Guide to Astral Projection

…. through systematic experimentation, I began having OBEs in 1965 [aged 15]. They were relatively frequent from 1965 to 1967, during which time I gained some control over them. ln thinking about them in retrospect, many of the conditions surrounding my OBEs were consistent with Charles Lancelin's views. For instance, they usually occurred under those conditions that Lancelin believed to favor astral projection - during warm weather, when I was nearing sleep, at times of utter stillness, and so on.

My projections also occurred when I was either on my back or my right side. In fact, I found that I could abort an incipient OBE by flipping onto my left side. Just why this should be so, I do not know, but it is uncannily consistent with what Lancelin discovered.
