Croiset the Clairvoyant - Jack Harrison Pollack
Other paragnosts studied at the Parapsychology Institute have helped the police in Dutch murder and rape cases.
Warner Tholen, a protege and friend of Croiset's, a forty-eight-year-old restaurant proprietor in Emmeloord, was consulted several years ago by the police in Delden, a town about fifty miles away, and shown some butcher's wrapping paper.
Did he have any impressions?
"Yes," replied the paragnost whom Croiset insists has a gift similar to his. "I see a man wearing a dark cap with a scratch over his left eye. He is riding a bicycle on a path in the woods and buries a package wrapped in this butcher's paper."
"What was in it?" asked a detective.
The kindly clairvoyant grimaced, then covered his face with his hands. "Excuse me" he apologized. "I don't feel very well.” But when police pressed him, he added, "Well, it was a new-born baby . . , illegitimate. He strangled the baby, and buried her. The man on the bicycle who did it lives in a corner white-walled house with a black-haired woman who wears a red coat."
While the police were checking this information (which proved correct; a man on a bicycle with a scratch over his left eye and wearing a dark cap was arrested in a neighbouring town on a traffic violation. Startled by the police's knowledge of his crime, he confessed to this brutal murder of his own infant.
