The mountains you admired were once my whole joy but now they lie farther away for me because I do not see them as singularly and as clearly before me. I am gazing into and beyond them now and that disturbs the uniform picture..................
I have seen none of our acquaintances. I believe I shall find hardly any of them because no bond of love connects me with any of them; through such a bond only does one meet again!-The space we are in here is so immense, it is improbable to meet anyone by chance. How small is your earth in comparison!
