A description of the experience

T C Lethbridge – The Power of the Pendulum

I have not experienced this, but I have talked to others who have had it. One was a Church of England parson who, when taking a service, suddenly found himself outside and above his body and could watch what it was doing.  There are examples of the same type reported in Dr Raynor Johnson's books. Here is one sent to me by a correspondent:

You mention that you have met people, who when near death, have sometimes seen their physical bodies from the outside. I once experienced this at the dentist's after having gas. I seemed to be floating in a corner near the ceiling, slightly to the left of the chair where my 'body' sat. I could see the back of my head, and the dentist bending over as if he was searching my face for a sign of consciousness. Then a strong magnetic current drew me back to the body. I fitted into it with perfect smoothness, and found myself looking with my physical eyes into the dentist's eyes. He uttered the vulgar word: 'SPIT.'
