This is how Elizabeth Rogers describes the effect her near-death experience had on her:
I now feel that every day is a new gift to me. Material things are not nearly as important as they used to be, and I now look forward with peace and joy to the day of my death. Before that (her near-death experience) I was not afraid, of death really, but I didn't like the thought of it. But now I am looking forward to dying, to death. It has absolutely no fears for me. Recently someone asked me what I would say if I was told I had to die now. My answer was, 'I’d say, this is a lovely "now" . . .'
