A description of the experience

Love is the Link – Dr Pamela Kircher

With regard to a deep longing for the spiritual, one man told of a time of deep despair in his life. Nothing seemed to be working for him. Several close relatives had died in the past two years, he had been laid off because of company cuts in a poor economic environment, and his wife had left him. Lying on the couch, contemplating his condition and considering suicide, he sincerely asked, "What is the meaning of life?"

Immediately he found himself in a mystical experience in which he actually felt the presence of God and felt the love that we ourselves are meant to be. In that moment, he understood that we are not about the details of life, but we are about learning to love in each moment.

After that experience, he was able to experience life in a new way and to look for opportunities to be loving. Thoughts of suicide became a thing of the past.
