After being in bed for a couple of days, I lost consciousness and experienced myself being drawn down a long tunnel, at the end of which was a very bright (but not dazzling) white Light. The experience was absolutely sublime, and engendered within me feelings of indescribable peace and joy, the likes of which I had never before known.
When I emerged from the tunnel, I found myself in the presence of a powerful spirit-being who radiated Light from himself, and who seemed to be the source of the Light all around me. I seemed to be in a beautiful land-scape, with majestic mountains, sweeping valleys and forests. The entity communicated certain information to me about the purpose for my being in incarnation, and he spoke of various future events in my life (many of which have already come to pass).
To my dismay he also told me that I would have to return to my body in order to fulfil the purpose of my life - and very shortly afterwards, I gradually regained body consciousness. The experience was far more real, vibrant and intense than any which I had ever had in the physical world - it was a fourth-dimensional rather than a three-dimensional experience.
Since that profound experience, I have never had any fear of death, and actually look forward to it, having had a brief glimpse of a higher state of existence outside of the human body. Many sceptical psychologists who have never had an NDE dismiss them as hallucinations or fantasies. However, my own experience demonstrates that this is not so; for the spirit-being who communicated with me while I was out of my body continues to do so, as a number of my friends can testify, having themselves experienced his presence very tangibly on numerous occasions.
Had my NDE merely been a hallucination, the Being of Light would also have been unreal, and would therefore not be able to manifest clearly in the 'real' physical world. His continuing objective manifestations, however, clearly demonstrate that my NDE was not just a hallucination and cannot be explained in purely material terms; it has a basis in spiritual reality.
