The Syādvāda is the doctrine devised to help adherents understand the nature of reality, or in fact the very fact they are not perceiving reality and can never perceive reality because of the nature of the 5 senses and the way the perception function works.

The Sanskrit etymological root of the term syād is "perhaps" or "maybe", but in the context of syādvāda it means "in some ways" or "from some perspective."
