150. The Demand for Union

I said, "My God, I am not satisfied."

And it was as though I saw him and did not see him, for I was in a kind of blindness. Then he took the veil off that blindness, and I saw him in the inner world of the hidden, but still I did not see him as I wished.

So I implored him; I saw him in the outer world of the hidden, and I did not recognize the reality of union with him. I became angry and pained and said,

 "It is right that your servants turn away from your door and face inward to themselves as their direction of prayer. What is this distress?"

I remained for a while, and I saw the Most High, and he appeared in the outer world of the angelic realm. I saw him in the form of majesty and beauty, and he drew me near and I approached, and it was as I wished, but I could not bear the extreme ecstasy, spiritual state, cries, sighs, and disturbance from his overwhelming loveliness and beauty, and the sweetness of union with him.

I remained in that state for a time.
