The Jacques Romano Story – Dr Berthold Eric Schwartz
In 1931-1933 we saw quite a bit of each other. One day, Dr. Romano met a man called Heilman in my office, for a brief moment. Heilman was business manager for the Brooklyn State Hospital. For some reason Romano became very upset. I thought he was ill. When Heilman left, Doc said to me, 'You're supposed to go to dinner tomorrow night? Don't go. I'll call you at 7 o'clock.' I did not go to the dinner and gave my ticket to an associate.
The man to whom I gave the ticket telephoned the following night about 6:30 p.m. to say that Heilman had dropped dead at the bar. Romano called at 7:00 p.m. 'You knew that Heilman dropped dead? I saw the angel of death around him!'
