The Wisdom of Near-Death Experiences – Dr Penny Sartori

I am in my sixty-sixth year and I had an NDE when I was 14 years of age. It started when I caught what was thought of as a cold and very quickly turned to pneumonia overnight, when I became unconscious.

When I was in hospital it was 'touch and go', as was the expression then. I experienced a bright light all the way up a staircase which I had started climbing. I climbed and climbed and found it hard work.

When I reached the top there were gates - I held the down prongs in my hands. Then I looked up to see a man.

He said to me, 'It’s not your time - go back.'

From that time I became slowly better but it was a long time before I became conscious and then better. I was in the hospital for five months before going for a month's convalescence.

People always put this down to my dreaming it happened, but to me it was very real. The bright light had continued until I was sent back.
