Spiritual path
A spiritual path is a series of steps, which may or may not involve the Activities of spiritual experience, whose aim is to gradually help you gain both greater personal understanding of the spiritual world and its layout, thus the Concepts of Heaven progress you towards greater and greater contact with the spiritual world via your Higher spirit and Composer. The aim of many paths is to meet with your composer, then merge in the so called ‘Chemical wedding’ or give up your Personality and ego entirely and thus be subsumed by the Higher spirit - annihilation
Progress along the path can largely be judged by the Types of Spiritual experience you have.
The steps are not necessarily sequential, they may simply be a series of processes that can be undertaken as and when they are needed – progress in this case is largely determined by your Higher spirit. There may even be an element of repetition of the steps and looping back needed.
Progress is not based on ‘morality’
The spiritual path is not a religious path – and for that read a theological path. Most religions base their teachings on a set of moral values that are man-made. The moral laws can change according to the religion – what is moral according to one religion may even be immoral in another, so we can see that following religious guidelines merely adds another set of man-made laws in addition to those of our parliament or political leaders. This is not a spiritual path.
The path of progress is unique to you
The spiritual path is a lone path. Not lonely – lone. This is a journey which is unique to you and which only you are able to take and understand. Every lesson the composer devises for you will be your lesson – one to help you progress. It will have no relevance to anyone but you. What we experience spiritually, the stage we move onto and the form of the experience is what we need at the time. It is need and state and knowledge dependent. It is Destiny driven.
You don’t progress unless you change
Every experience is always a form of lesson and it will relate to something we have to change about ourselves or something which will help us to achieve our destiny.
If we ignore the lesson, if we do not take the time and trouble to understand its symbolism or its type, we will simply loop round and round at the same stage, or worse, the lessons may start to get much more unpleasant as stick takes over from carrot.
You need to be aware that if you find yourself continually having hallucinations for example and no more, or much worse you are stuck with simple synaesthesia, you have not learnt and you are not using the experiences as was intended.
Many people seem to treat spiritual experience as a form of entertainment, a sort of recreational past-time, a novelty. I suppose initially, like all things it may be, but you run the real risk of abusing the privilege of access to the spiritual world and thereby getting some quite unpleasant wake-up calls.
A bad trip is a bad trip for a reason.
Progress produces more meaningful and profound experiences
Many visual spiritual experiences are given to us early on to whet our appetite, so it is not that you can’t obtain a spiritual experience early on, - that is open to all, - only that that experience may not be as profound or meaningful as one achieved later. In effect you climb a sort of spiritual experience ladder where the bottom rungs give you interesting and perhaps useful experiences to help you learn and develop; the later experiences at the top of the ladder start to give you profound insights into the wider spiritual world and truly change your whole life [for the better].
The advantage of this form of path is that no experience need ever be a wasted one. There is no such thing as a pointless spiritual experience. Furthermore, no one ever gets a ‘complete’ understanding, but they can achieve a gradual ‘awakening’ - a growing understanding of what they are experiencing. They might start with little glimpses and insights, then maybe more profound experiences and insight and so on. How much they experience is then a function of how much they are prepared to learn from the experience and how long they live!
It does appear that being older has its advantages. It helps in providing a sort of foundation for the search and it gives you time to learn, free of the normal responsibilities of youth.
Furthermore, it is also clear that the actual pursuit itself – the striving – also provides happiness, so instead of years of misery and hard work followed by sudden insight, it is possible to pursue the spiritual path on a continuous basis and achieve gradually greater levels of happiness and insight.
Progress requires the humility to learn
And progress requires the person to admit he has something to learn.
Matthew 5
1And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
2And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
