Diversity at the individual level is as important as diversity of species. It is an important contributor to the approach of co-operation whereby grouped together people with different abilities can create new function, but it is also an important approach in its own right, as it is the final point where functionality can be allocated and tested.
If we assume for a moment that this view is correct, it leads to an interesting spin-off conclusion. Since every individual is intended to be unique, then not only their appearance, but their Personality was also intended to be unique.
