Common steps and sub-activities

Craniosacral therapy CV 4

Craniosacral therapy (also called CST) is an osteopathic technique. The technique used on the face and head is called the CV4 technique. In general use, stimulation of this area is used to heal.  Craniosacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

The osteopath manipulates the head, cradling it in his hands and using the fingers to stimulate the area of spinal cord near where it meets the skull.

The position of the fingers for massage is both key and needs to be extremely precise – as you can see from the diagram.
