Background

The experience is an out of body in which a lady who normally could not see without glasses could see. The key – the absolute essence of the problem is that being able to ‘see’ physically is dependant on achieving an out of the body state.

She observed quite a bit more of her operation including the shaving of her stomach and various medical procedures that her surgical team were performing upon her and then she finds herself able to see another object

 Bang!  I left!  The next thing I was aware of was floating on the ceiling and seeing down there, with his hat on his head – I knew who he was by the cap on his head [the anaesthetist always wore a magenta cap with butterflies on it so that he could be recognised by his younger patients]... it was so vivid.  I'm very near sighted too, by the way, which was another one of the startling things that happened to me when I left my body.  I see at fifteen feet what most people see at 400... They were hooking me up to a machine that was behind my head.  And my very first thought was 'Jesus, I can see!  I can't believe it, I can see!'  I could read the numbers on the machine behind my head and I was just so thrilled.....

From where I was looking, I could look down on this enormous fluorescent light...... and it was so dirty on the top of the light
Could you see the top of the light fixture?
Yes and it was filthy
And I remember thinking 'got to tell the nurses about that'
