A Toronto architect who experienced herself go out of body when she almost haemorrhaged to death after the birth of her son in 1990 told me that, in the aftermath, humanity felt to her like a clanging bell.
"l would walk down the street and be hit by all these emotions, how everyone passing me was feeling, I could feel it-wham-wham-wham. It was so difficult that I avoided being in social gatherings. Six months later, I remember being in a crowded room for a business function and it was almost annihilating.
