The Mystical Life - J H M Whiteman

The experience that I call 'Deificatio in the strict sense' was granted to me once, when by an astonishing and indescribable process of inward representative control, lasting about an hour, the heart-motion was gradually slowed until, to the outward mind, it must have stopped entirely for about 15 seconds. In that absolute cessation of all, I was merged successively (to outward view) in the Idea of the One, the Idea of Very Self, and the utterly all-sufficing Idea of the Good.
