Water is the second matter of eternal nature’s essence. Water is a meek, mild, soft gentle essence, for as the fire essence is the ground of fierceness, water is the ground of meekness. This meek essence, with its qualities of softness, mildness, gentleness, refreshingness, sinking down, heaviness, is the ground of eternal light; it is the womb of the meek light, whence springs pleasantness, delightfulness, joyfulness and gladness. ……..
