Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

Despite Koestler’s constant inspiration and his love of the metaphysical he at times could only conceive in terms of the physical.  The physicists, for some reason only known to them, have taken the spiritual images found in visions at the air, fire, aether and water levels and have created a physical equivalent they have called the wormhole.  Koestler called the spiritual world superspace, but in this quote he introduces wormholes – so he was both right and in a sense wrong.

I have little idea whether wormholes exist, but if you have a vision or hallucination or dream, then vortexes of energy connecting the layers do exist.

A description of the experience

Arthur Koestler – Janus

Another remarkable attribute of [Wheeler's] superspace is that regions may be brought temporarily into direct contact through tunnels or holes in superspace.  They are called wormholes.  The universe is supposed to be criss crossed with these wormholes, which appear and disappear in immensely rapid fluctuation, resulting in ever changing patterns – a cosmic kaleidoscope shaken by an invisible hand
