A description of the experience

Joan from Liversedge, West Yorkshire, told me of her life-time of strange experiences, which began in 1951 when she had an out-of-body experience during the birth of her first child.
 
She floated up by the ceiling and in a completely detached manner/ free from pain or concern, watched her pain-wracked body below as if it were another person.

Then she had a sense of being 'needed' and shot back into her body moments before her daughter was born.

I have heard similar childbirth stories from several other women.
