A description of the experience

Dipyridamole

Dipyridamole (trademarked as Persantine) is a medicine that inhibits thrombus formation and is used in patients who have had a stroke. According to Wikipedia its mechanism of action is that it “inhibits the phosphodiesterase enzymes that normally break down cAMP (increasing cellular cAMP levels and blocking the platelet response to ADP) and/or cGMP . It also blocks the thromboxane synthase as well as the thromboxane receptor”.

It also theoretically causes vasodilation when given at high doses over a short time by acting as a reuptake inhibitor, inhibiting the cellular reuptake of adenosine into platelets, red blood cells and endothelial cells leading to increased extracellular concentrations of adenosine.

It also inhibits the enzyme adenosine deaminase, which normally breaks down adenosine into inosine. This inhibition leads to further increased levels of extracellular adenosine

On Sep, 12, 2015: 1,623 people reported to have side effects when taking Persantine. Among them, 9 people (0.55%) have Hallucination.

On Sep, 19, 2015: 3,454 people reported to have side effects when taking Dipyridamole. Among them, 7 people (0.20%) have Hallucination.
