If you could walk with me today
And whisper to me sweetest thoughts over and over
I think I should not find the sky so dim and grey
And not so bad the rain and dull cloud cover
If you could sit with me today
And hold my hand in yours and me enfold
I think I should not mind the chill of rain or spray
Nor find my hand and heart and all the world so cold
If you could lie with me today
And tell me that my longing love would be your own
I think my sad thoughts would be put away
And I could give back laughter for the weather’s moan
