Background
The spirit helper - a living human being - has gone out of body in order to communicate.
This observation provides proof that probably quite a bit of the communication to the Boy was from living people who could go out of body. The majority of the communication taking place in the book is in English and this immediately arouses one’s suspicions that the communicator[s] is bodied.

The Boy who saw True - December 14th
That nice spirit turned up again yesterday, and excused himself for doing a bunk in that astonishing manner. This is what he said and Mr P wrote it down
" You must pardon me for having disappeared so suddenly the other day, but I was called back to my body. As I gave you no reason to think otherwise, I expect you imagine I'm a dismembered spirit? But that's not exactly the case. To be explicit, I happen to be a so-called Anglo-Indian, and I am communicating with you while out of my body which is asleep, thousands of miles away from here. Our night is your day. If it were not, I shouldn't be able to come to you like this.
I have learnt to do work on this plane …. while my physical body is asleep. Your young companion has the same power, and I often meet him over here. But neither he nor I remember it when we return to our bodies in the morning. Perhaps this seems strange to you, yet it's quite simple. Without special training, the [spirit] body does not impress the physical brain with the memory of its experiences. Later on, the boy, who is a more advanced soul than I am, will, probably acquire this faculty to some extent. But whether or no, both he and I may be said to lead double lives; there is our life on earth in the day-time, and our life over here at night. Of course if we try to communicate, as I am doing at present, with some one who can see - and there are not so many such as yet - there is always the possibility of being suddenly recalled to the physical body by a noise or something which wakes one up; and in that case, one vanishes in the disconcerting manner I vanished the other night”
