At peace
Lying there in the dark, the warmth of a Paris night surrounds us
The bathroom door a little bit open and a shaft of light falls on the bed and on you
And you are lying next to me face towards me asleep
So peaceful, so peaceful
Eyes closed, but not tightly closed
Lashes resting gently quite still on your soft cheek
Breathing deeply
Long peaceful breaths
The breathing of deep sleep
No bad dreams to disturb you
At peace
And all I want to do is take you in my arms
And tell you how much I love you
But that would wake you
And disturb that peace
And so I gently put my hand across
And touch you very very gently on your face
