NOTES to Clara or On Nature’s Connection to the Spirit World – F W J Schelling

ln De Re Metallica (1546)Agricole mentions that miners used rods to discover minerals and buried treasure; dowsing is also mentioned by Paracelsus. Shepard notes that divining rods later became universally used in the Harz mountains and in Saxony.

Schelling, of course, was heavily involved with Ritter's experiments on the dowser Campetti in 1807-1808; he was therefore most likely well acquainted with the historical and contemporary use of dowsing rods for finding treasure.

The source of the experience

Schelling, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von
