A description of the experience

Nobuyuki Tsujii: Stephen Foster and Tsujii: Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair

Noboyuki's own variations on Jeannie with the Light Brown hair.  ジェニーへのオマージュ 自作集CD+自作 'Tribute to Jeanie' is a self-composition CD and DVD. Released by Avex Classics on December, 2012.

According to Wikipedia "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair is a parlor song by Stephen Foster (1826–1864). It was published by Firth, Pond & Co. of New York in 1854." And according to Wikipedia "Foster wrote the song with his estranged wife Jane McDowell in mind. The lyrics allude to a permanent separation."

Unfortunately, their take on this doesn't quite add up as Stephen Foster's wife was called Jane not Jean.  And the reason the song is about Jeannie with the light brown hair is that it is a Scottish folk love song.  A very old one.
