Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

A description of the experience

Rosalind Heywood – The Infinite Hive

My experiences divide roughly into two kinds:

  • a passive awareness, usually fleeting and on the fringe of the mind, of apparent presences or of situations not perceptible via the senses; and
  • an inner prompting to action or comment on behalf of other people, which seems either beyond my normal capacity, or absurd in the light of facts known to me at the time, but turns out to be relevant in the light of other facts learnt later on. As I said earlier, for want of a better word I have called these promptings Orders, though I do not thereby want to suggest that they must come from outside myself. I do not know where they come from, except that it is not my conscious self.

The source of the experience

Heywood, Rosalind
