Type of Spiritual Experience

Background

X-ray studies have shown that in ice, four hydrogen atoms tetrahedrally surround each oxygen atom, in such a way that two hydrogen atoms are linked to oxygen atom by covalent bonds (These lie closer to the oxygen atom at a distance of 1.00 Å.) and the other two hydrogen atoms are linked to the central oxygen atom by hydrogen bonds. (These lie away from oxygen atom at a distance of 1.76Å.) The hydrogen atoms of water molecules are located at the corners of tetrahedron.

A description of the experience

Lyall Watson – The Water Planet

The bonds in it are rigid and prescribed.  The angle of 104.5 degrees between hydrogen atoms is mirrored in the regular arrangement between water molecules, which come to lie in groups of  5, as they do in crystals of ice.

In fact, liquid water seems to consist of numbers of such tiny crystals, each one existing only for an instance, forming and dissolving many millions of times a second.  It is as though the liquid remembers what it was like to be ice and flows about muttering under its breath, repeating the essential formula to itself again and again, ready to change back at a moment’s notice.
