I am easily and deeply moved by music - perhaps the more so because I do not understand its mechanisms.
There are parts of the Brahms Violin Concerto and of Sibelius's First symphony, and of Beethoven's Ninth and of the very end of Rosenkavallier, which quite apart from their spiritual uplift, give me a purely physical sensation which can be compared on level terms with any other extreme of sensuality
